While Xodo Sign supports several file formats, PDF files consistently produce the best results. We strongly recommend uploading PDF files whenever possible.

Why PDF works best

PDF preserves your document's layout, fonts, and formatting exactly as intended — no matter what device or operating system is used to open it. Other formats like Word or Excel are converted to PDF by Xodo Sign's server when uploaded, and this conversion can sometimes cause misaligned fields or formatting differences.

Converting to PDF before uploading eliminates these risks entirely.

How to convert your document to PDF

Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint (modern versions)

  1. Open your document.
  2. Click File, then Export.
  3. Select Create PDF/XPS Document.
  4. Click Create PDF/XPS and save your file.

Google Docs

  1. Open your document.
  2. Click File in the top menu.
  3. Select Download, then choose PDF Document (.pdf).

Mac (any application)

  1. Open your document.
  2. Click File, then Print.
  3. Click the PDF dropdown in the bottom-left corner.
  4. Select Save as PDF.
