Preflight Verification
Xodo PDF Studio provides preflight and compliance verification to verify the document meets various archival compliances defined by ISO PDF standards. When verifying documents Xodo PDF Studio will generate a report listing the errors. Errors can then be exported or appended to the current PDF if needed.
Below are the available PDF archival standards that Xodo PDF Studio is able to verify.

How to Run Preflight Verification on a PDF
- Open the document you wish to verify
- Select Document Tab > Preflight or use the shortcut key Ctrl + Shift + X (Mac: ⌘ + Shift + X) to show the Preflight dialog.
- Select the standard that you wish to verify.
- Click on Verify to begin the verification process
Preflight Verification Results
Results List - details the content in the document that is not compliant with the selected profile and whether or not it can be fixed with Preflight Conversion.
- Items that are not compliant and that can NOT be fixed by Xodo PDF Studio Preflight Conversion.
- Items that are not PDF/A compliant and that COULD be fixed by Preflight Conversion depending on user settings in PDF/A Preferences .
- Items that are not PDF/A compliant and that WILL be fixed by Xodo PDF Studio PDF/A Conversion.
Expand - Expands the results tree to show all preflight error results
Collapse - Collapses the results tree to only show the preflight error categories
Preflight Result Options
Annotations & Reports
Once the validation is completed you can use the following options to add comments or append results to the document. Select the result options you wish to use and then click Apply to add the chosen options.
- Add comments for preflight errors - When checked, will add an annotation for each preflight error with the details of the error in the annotation comment
- Include report - Choose whether to Append / Prepend a Preflight Results report to the document that was tested.
Export
Preflight results can exported to various formats. To do so click on the export button on the top of the results list. Then choose from one of the following options.
- Text - Simple text file (.txt) that will contain all of the preflight report information
- XML - File format that is similar to an Excel file that will contain all of the preflight report information
- PDF - Creates a new PDF document with the preflight results
Preflight results can printed if needed. To do so click on the print button on the top of the results list. Then choose from one of the following options.
- Text - Plain text list of the preflight results
- Tree - Prints the entire tree exactly as it is displayed in the preflight results list
